About this competition

ZMROBO SUPER AI

Competitors design, build, and program a robot in the competition area, then take it through a simulated space passage to complete a reconnaissance mission. The secondary divisions carry an extra special mission.

Age division

  • Upper primary — ages 9 to 12
  • Lower secondary — ages 13 to 15
  • Upper secondary — ages 16 to 18

Rules in brief

  • The run is limited to 3 minutes
  • Before the run, competitors have 60 minutes to adjust the robot and write their program
  • Place the robot in the Start Zone; no part may extend outside it. If any part sticks out, the robot must be adjusted. The robot moving scores 100 points (a starting score, for programming and robot design)
  • First mission: the robot sets the first signal point, 100 points
  • The robot flicking the meteorite into the circle scores 100 points; 50 points if it does not land on the marked spot
  • Crossing the bridge successfully scores 100 points
  • Time Bonus: a competitor who completes every main mission, parks inside the frame, signals the clock to stop within 2 minutes and raises a hand scores 100 points
  • JUNIOR and SENIOR classes have a special mission at the event, which the organiser announces on the day

What to bring

  • Competitors bring their own laptop and robot
  • For new competitors, the organiser has robots to lend
